Download Renegade X: Black Dawn

Installer not working - Win 7

Postby starwolf1991 » Tue Feb 07, 2012 6:23 am

Hi there,

I recently downloaded the installer client for Renegade-X and have been attempting to get it working. However, it has proved fruitless. I am not prompted about about errors or issues that are preventing me from installing; Simply, no install window at all shows up. I have also confirmed that my installer is not corrupted and have tried the following:

-Running in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3
-Running in Administrator Mode
-Reinstalling Net Frameworks up to 4.0

Are there any other possibile solutions? Cheers.

how big id the installer ... its 3.9 gb ... the UDK installer can get corrupt extremely easily but you say its not :s

what windows 7 are you using home, premium ... ect, 32bit or 64 bit. fully updated to sp1 and all new updates after

if the installer is not starting .. try seeing if the installer doesn't like your pc by installing UDK from http://www.UDK.com ... this may fix the problem with RenxBD installer but its a long shot

I seem to get a near same issue. However mine ends us with just the Logo coming up and sitting there without intent of doing anything but overlaying all my programs until I close it via task manager.
You asked for specs, I also run a Win7 so I figured it would help out.

OS: Windows 7 (Home Preimium, Sp1)
Processor: Intel Core i7-2630QM
-CPU @ 2GHz/2GHz
Memory (Ram): 8GBs
System Type: 64-bit
GPU: Nvidia GTX 460M

Also, I run with UAC Disabled. However, I've attempted running as admin and being on admin with no change in issue.

I've downloaded the UDK program, even with attempts at using compatibility modes, this program doesn't seem to wish to do much either. Most often it's giving me a small pop up (Which I have to use Task manager to "Maximize" just so I can see it since it's hidden behind the logo.) that shows it's getting a Fatal Error.
Fatal Error: Error CLR 80004005
Best I can do is google this information, and I'm not studied enough for this sort of thing to determine weither or not it is part of the UDK or Me.

I've downloaded UDK, this has done little to nothing in terms of fixing. But it was a good idea.
I have 3.9gigs of 3.9 gigs.
Since on the first day it came out (I'm assuming) the servers and mirrors were so full I couldn't get a full download.
I downloaded it once successfully today, didn't work, I assume it was corrupted.
Deleted it and downloaded it a second time and made sure nothing else was running.

I seen a link from TriggerHippy earlier that I'm going to look at a little later and see what is going down with that. But I'm taking a personal bug-break for the moment. :p
I'm trying to give out as much info on what I am and may not be doing as possible. I have a dear sweet love for Renegade and I'm determined to get this game running. lol, I hope I can provide anything that might help. Just the screenshots themselves look amazing.

I just can't seem to figure out what's causing it to go into a stupor on my screen.

I know my installer is not corrupt because it was verified by my internet browser as complete and someone else has used that installer successfully to install the game. What the problem really is, as I just so happened to found, is that my laptop doesn't really have a lot of grunt behind it. And so, loading the installer would take forever. Which is unusual considering every other game or software installer works flawlessly.
