I started to play around a bit with the Editor and it's working out pretty ok. So I wanted to recreate a renegade map, since I was getting a lot of joy from it and I really don't know if someone is currently making it or w/e but I just wanted to give it a try with Mesa. I created the basic layout, placed the buildings on their spots, placed some lights and clicked build/build lights.
After 30 secs or so windows said that UT3 has crashed and it closes the editor, not the 'program-is-not-responding' thing. So I created a new map, putted all the buildings in it and UT3 crashed, after that one building at a time and that went fine. Until I got to the GDI power plant (new and rec) and UT3 started crashing again. I now have a map with every building on it except the GDI power plant... (Although when I move these buildings around it still crashes :S)
Also tried to 'build' a copy of Hourglass and same story. Crash after a few minutes. Same story.
So am I doing something wrong? Since I really don't know what any more... I'm having a lot of fun making the map or just playing around with the editor, but this is starting to bother me quite a bit...
Or shouldn't I have to build "that much"? Though than I have no correct lights :S
...
I'm using a fresh installation of UT3, Renegade-X and Windows. My pc is quite ok (I guess, i7-930 6gb ram), though the editor likes the ram..
Also what I did:
- Created a new map
- Saved the map
- new terrain (120x120) and new skylight
- Placed all the buildings on it
- Build
A 60x100 map does build (not with the pp). Does that mean, since the editor is using 80-95% ram, that I don't have enough ram for the editor to use?
Another thing, the editor seems to always crash at 3.7gb of ram. With no other program running it has 20% more ram it could use, and 1% with other programs running.
Thanks for any help... I'm kinda lost right now what the problem can be. I'll just don't build for now
