This is my first post, not to comment on how good RenX is, but, I did about everything, and it still doesn`t start at all. Just the message "Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application" that`s it...

What did I do?
Firstly I did a uninstall of UT 3 and RenX because it didn`t work, (installed on a non suggested location (as suggested by the game).
Also a uninstall of the windows.net framework 4.0
BTW: what is this framework used for?

So a real clean install:

(I followed the post from Jam, the "shortguide to installing RenX")

Firstly I downloaded the most recent windows.net framework 4.0, and installed this.
Then I installed UT3 on the default location as suggested by the game.
Then I installed the patch 1.5/2.1
Then I installed RenX 0.55.

When starting the game "Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application"

What am I doing wrong here???

System specs would be good for this sort of problem

Operating system is win XP SP4, Pentium Dual Core 2.2Ghz, 2 Gb RAM, Gigabyte 945GCM-S2L mainboard, Excelstor 250 Gb HD, Geforce 8500GT Videocard. UT3 is working Fluently, also online gaming.

ok so whan you say "When starting the game" you mean the RenegadeX server client or loading the game from the client ?

the new client is a bit buggy ... i can sugest using an app called RenegadeX IP that Jam made a wile back >>>DOWNLOAD<<<

It`s directly after when I double click on the "Renegade X server client"....

That's probably an XP issue as the latest funky server client doesn't work here too (I'm also running XP). Download my server client, or direct connect tool.

Ehhmm, when I double klick on either of those, I get the same message "Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application" (.NET framework initialization error) do I have to have the framework 3.5 version? or is 4.0 ok?

3.5 is needed

OK! Uninstall 4.0, and then install 3.5? or do I have to uninstall RenX also, then firstly install 3.5, and then install RenX again?

.net framework is apart of windows so you dont have to reinstall RenX

Well, I managed to get a screen, but the front end kept asking for an update and when clicking this, the same appeared, and again, and again.... I got this fixed via the update from JeepRuby, but now a get a windows message "frontend has encountered a problem and needs to close".... I am getting crazy here.....

BTW; is RenX besides the multiplayer mode also a single player game, like the original "Renegade"?

Ok, this works, however I only see one server available, ah well, that`s ok. However, now I have this: The game doesn`t remember or aknowledge the login... It just says "player" no matter how many times I login. With UT3 this is no problem.... RenX may be great, but for me now it`s some buggy piece of software :-(

to keep logged in go in to "play offline" and at main menu hit login and enter ya details and tick auto login and remember me/pass and it will log you in every time
