Lower graphics further!!!!

Postby gam3rzed » Sat May 19, 2012 9:59 pm

Renegade 1 was my absolute fav game years ago, Im so happy that there is now an updated version being made, but unfortunatly my pc can literally just run this suffering from lag fps, I have lowered all the graphics and set the resolution down and also put it into a window mode and set the priority to real-time on my cpu but my computer still can't handle it, I really want to play this game properly, any chance of adding an option to lower graphics further? pleaaaase

Black Dawn as far as I know is not going to have any new updates so an very unlikely chance of lowering the graphics, however the upcoming renegade x multilayer will have more options in the menu.

Well, there should be enough options to make your PC a bit faster. Run system defragmentation, clean your hard drive, remove the dust inside your box (REALLY WORKS!), or maybe your PC is simply too old. But in that case, you still should'nt worry too much hardware is getting cheaper and cheaper (except for hard drives, the floods in taiwan still greatly affect the prizes). You could get some extra virtual memory for at least $20 at ebay or something. And a new graphics card can be reaaaly useful. But that is up to you off course. :P

Why not just play Renegade itself? ;) But unfortunately right now, BD is what it is.

Its true BD takes too much to run. I just got an asus laptop from a military based vendor and it is running with 4gb of ram, and HD intel graphics card and a 2.2 GHz proscessor with an 64bit WIN7 premium os.
But it also suffers from FPS lag.
Great game. just too high end on requirements. hopefully I can upgrade to 8GB of ram and it will solve the problem.
And yes, it was set to lowest graphic setting available.

Four gigabytes of RAM is perfectly fine; doubling that won't make a difference at all. The GPU and to a somewhat lesser extent the CPU are the important parts here. An integrated/on-board graphics card like Intel HD is just not meant for 3D gaming on a modern engine. And in general I think laptops (especially reasonable priced ones) are less suitable for gaming: the components usually perform worse than their counterparts in an equally priced desktop, and because of the cramped space overheating problems are likely to arise.

The graphics are a bit of a tradeoff: you can't greatly improve the visuals and physics of a game but maintain the same extent of low tier hardware support at the same time. The goal of Renegade X has always clearly been to create a Renegade-like game on a modern engine with modern graphics, so it just won't run smoothly on every random rig like Renegade pretty much does. Frustrating for people without access to good hardware, but at the same time it's one of the very things that makes the project awesome. Renegade X without the modern technology wouldn't be Renegade X.

im sure some tweeks will be made to the performance ... but to tell you the truth it wont make much difference if ya got a crappy pc or even a half desent laptop ... the thing is laptops are just not a good gaming platform if you like proper gaming ... get a PC the price of an average laptop is the price of a good gaming system that will play all the new / next gen games
Im not mad, Im mentally insane

but privacy plays an important rule to me, and having a desktop won't really help if the whole family can watch with you, it gives that creepy feeling... so, i would choose a laptop over a desktop imo.
