Hi I installed beta .5 to a fresh UT directory at C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\unreal tournament 3\Binaries\ and whenever I join a server using front end it attempts to queue up 76 files to download.

Most game assets are located in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\unreal tournament 3\Binaries\Published.

What did I do wrong?

what server are you trying to connect too?
or is it any server ?

renX is usaly installed to C:\Users\PC user\Desktop\Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3 <win 7 but its the same from My Documents in xp and vista

im not sure about steam ... check my Documents\My Games for Unreal Tournament 3 folder ... if you have this folder move the renx folder from C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\unreal tournament 3\Binaries to my games\unreal folder or uninstall / delete the renx folder and reinstall to the right folder

As Kenz said, make sure the mod is installed in your My Documents folder, like this:

As Kenz said, make sure the mod is installed in your My Documents folder, like this:

Thanks I got it to work. Just installed it to a sub "/Renegade" folder and added -applaunch 13210-mod=..\Renegade -solomod to the launch options in steam.

Hello Guys, I just do not understand. Maybe something is wrong?
Tell my how to be ...
I have a similar problem. And I have two days + 9 hour downloading these 76 files, but when it comes to 1 - it all starts over again.
I'm tired and irritable after 2 days (+ 9 more hours), download a circle of 76 files.
1. UT3 is installed. Good, licensed game. I tested the game by playing online.
A functional steam version.
2. The last patch (2.1) is insatlled.
3. I already have, GameSpy account for UT3 (as I said, tested by playing the game online.). All settings are set.
4. I have downloaded the 0.50 installer.
5. I created a shortcut.
I took into consideration that I have OS - Vista.
I took into consideration that I have a game - steam version.
I created a shortcut / icon in «targetbox» I added «-mod =.. \ Renegade-solomod»
I'll rename this shortcut / icon in «Renegade-X»
I Did install of the 0.50 by installer, in directory
«C:\Users\Gatronian\Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\Renegade»
6. Launched «Renegade-X»,
did login,
starting connection to IP 85.25.143.169:9090
it is, for sure, server «MP-Gaming.com RenX Slaughterhouse # 1 (v0.50)»
And then starting to download in a circle of that 76 files.
After the first 9 hours of this murder for the brains, I stopped.
Later I started that again, because nothing has been saved (what the heck? why?).
And now, 2 days, that 76 files downloads agaain and again.
Me - tired.
My PC - tired.
I did everything according to instructions... damn, why that happenin'?
Help me please ...
P.S. By The way, When my OS was XP SP2, has been realized earlier version (0.35 and sudden patch 0.36), and i has NO such problem.

What to say? I fall into rage and startin' to do shits... in finale i have crashed my Vista, but after restore game goes work. wth? - i don't know.

had the same prob some time ago ... try this if you havent already

1. uninstalling ut3 and renx (delete all files that are left over in program files and in my games)
2. redownload 0.5 form a link here
3. reinstall ut3 and patch to 2.1 (must run game to make settings folder in my games befor installing renx) wile waiting for download
4. install renx 0.5
5. conect via frontend application
6. have fun

any problems post again, if works tell us so that other people know what to do

So ... dunno what i did for real, but i did Crash my Vista. Capital collapse, eh?
After some time, when returned back all functions to normal, without any hope i clicked on icon and game has been Started.

Did it work with the same installation before?

Ensure that you have followed all of what has been said above. If it's already done, try without the "Use unpublished folder" option on the Renegade X Frontend. Uncheck that box. I was asked to download many files when I had it checked. Once unchecked, I was able to join instantly. I tried it again with it checked and some remaining files were still going to be downloaded. Sometimes, little details like that can make a huge difference. It might be stupid but that could just be that. I will be happy if it's of any help.

Additional note : Though it will not be as long, keep in mind that you may have to re-download specific server files (music, mods, additional maps, etc) to the server you want to play to if you have played on a server that required and still requires you to get them.
