How to run the map editor

Hey folks,

There has been a small error on our end that is not allowing people to load the editor properly. We apologize for any inconveniances we may have caused. However there is a very small quick and easy solution to fix this problem.

Before I explain the solution and how to install; if you have tried to launch the editor and were promted with a messege asking you to recompile the scripts because they were old, and you clicked on "Yes" then you will lose the scripts that are making the mod work. So instead of having to reinstall the whole mod I provided a zip file called "RenX_Scripts.zip" which includes all of the scripts that make the game tick. You will need to extract them to the scripts folder where the mod is installed.

Instructions:

If you did not recompile the scripts, then skip the first step!

1: Download "RenX_Scripts.zip", extract the .u script files to the "Scripts" folder in the installtion directory "My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\Renegade\Published\Scripts\". It will ask you if you would like to overwrite any files, it is up to you if you want to or not, as they are the same files as the ones that are extracted from the installer. On a quick note, you will have to reconfigure your mod settings as they will be reset.

2: Download "RenX_Config.zip". Extract the two .ini files to the "Config" folder in the installtion directory "My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\Renegade\Config\". You must overwrite when the messege is promted.

3: Go to the "Config" folder in the installtion directory "My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\Renegade\Config\" where you just extracted the new files, and then delete the "UTEditor.ini" and "UTEngine.ini" files as they will get regenerated based on the new ini files you just placed in that folder.

4: Run the editor, and every Renegade X asset will be loaded and ready to go.

I get a bunch of errors about missing packages when i launch the editor:

have you tryed rinstalling renx 0.5 ? worked for me

Hopefully When Renegade - X release standalone it will have map editor so i can help to do mapping! I love mapping as well i made like 13 maps for Battlefield Vietnam like 5 years ago. But that time i had no internet so i didn't upload only give friends and play as LAN. ( LOL ) Not only BFv i do mapping but Gem Editor as well.

Can't wait for it release

as long as we have access to the RenX assets you can just use the udk to make the maps as that is what thay are using to make the entire game

i hope we do have access to the assets i got a map all built up just need to add the renx stuff hahaha :P

ummm the editor has lost all the assets you have to load them all in befor you load a map :( and it crashes evey time i try opening RenXgame.u

its ok i just replaced the default editor and engin .ini files with files from first post and i got all the assets back (dont know if this will affect the game) will post back l8r

This does not seem to work with the Steam version. Can you import them manually?

did you remember to delete the "UTEditor.ini" and "UTEngine.ini" files

try using a shortcut of ut3 and add this to the end

editor -mod=..\Renegade -solomod

this will open the editor with out needing the frontend and may help with the steam version
