1. Open the Alpha Frontend server browser client. ("\My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\Renegade\Renegade-X.exe") and browse to your UT3.exe file (See step 3 of installing Ren-X for the folder).
To Direct-Connect using a server IP Address:
1. Open the Renegade-X shortcut you made.
2. Click on login and log in to the online Gamespy account you made earlier. (Skip this step if you have auto-login enabled of course.)
3a. Go to multiplayer and Join Game.
4a. Click the join by IP button.
5a. Enter in the IP address of the server and the port. Here's an example: 78.129.164.70:7777
(Note: It doesn't seem to "find" the IP, but if you press OK and continue anyways at the error message, it will join without problem.) Don't forget to try out the other servers (other IP's) in case it is full.
You can find a list of server IP addresses here, however the frontend also displays IP's.
3b. Alternatively, you can hit F10 at the main menu and type "open IPHERE" without the quotes, where IPHERE is the IP and port. Then hit enter. (Hit escape to make the console vanish.)
You can also make a shortcut on the desktop that will direct-connect to a specific server:
- Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" 78.129.164.70:7777/?name=YOURNAMEHERE -mod=..\Renegade -solomod
If your nickname is "player" while you are in-game, do the following:
Press F10, then type: "setname newnicknamehere" (but without the quotes).
When you're done playing, make sure that your Gamespy account is properly set up and that you are correctly logged in to RenX in offline mode.
